Argentina is all the rage in the red-and-white half of Seville. And with good reason: Sevilla FC have more Argentinian players in their ranks than any other LaLiga Santander club: a total of six footballers hailing from the South American country ply their trade at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan and have helped tango-charge a team who have gone from strength to strength.
Overseeing this sextet is their compatriot, Jorge Sampaoli. The Andalusian outfit's hierarchy pulled out all the stops to land the Casilda-born coach and he, in turn, put his faith in several of his countrymen after taking the reins – five Argentinian players followed Sampaoli through the door in the summer: Gabriel Mercado (born in Puerto Madryn), Matias Kranevitter (San Miguel de Tucuman), Joaquin Correa (Juan Bautista Alberdi), Franco Vazquez (Tanti) and Luciano Vietto (Balnearia).
Welcoming this influx was one Nico Pareja. The defender from Buenos Aires, a comparative Sevilla veteran having been at the club since 2013, has served as the perfect guide for his fellow Argentinians. With Pareja's assistance, these new arrivals have all settled in swimmingly and contributed – under Sampaoli's inspired stewardship – towards turning the Europa League champions into firm LaLiga Santander title contenders.
