Real Sociedad beat Córdoba CF 3-1 on matchday 28 of the Liga BBVA, a result that sees David Moyes’s team move into 9th place on 36 points, while the Andalusian outfit find themselves further and further from their objective of survival.
Córdoba paid a heavy price when Aleksandar Pantić brought down Imanol Agirretxe after 6 minutes, his red card leaving them faced with numerical inferiority for the full match. Nevertheless, they sprang a surprise and took the lead thanks to a header by Florin Adone from Bebé’s corner. Real Sociedad produced a reaction and Agirretxe, with an excellent headed effort from Sergio Canales’s pass, levelled the clash at Anoeta.
With the score at 1-1, los blanquiverdes offered no let-up and gave the home fans a scare when Bebé's right-foot shot hit the crossbar. Shortly afterwards, an attempt on Juan Carlos’ goal from La Real’s Joseba Zaldúa was also denied by the woodwork.
In the second half, the Basques took control of the play, pinning Córdoba back in their area. However, José Antonio Romero’s men continued to provide glimpses of danger and Bebé could have scored his side’s second, but came up against a great save from Gerónimo Rulli. Finally, the affair was settled by Chory Castro and Alfred Finnbogason, the pair ensuring a 3-1 scoreline.
