Real Madrid took another three points against SD Eibar on matchday 31 of the Liga BBVA thanks to the 3-0 win at the Santiago Bernabéu. The victory keeps them within close distance of FC Barcelona, league leaders, and leaves Eibar in the danger zone.
Isco Alarcón gave an early warning of the Whites’ intent with a shot that was very close to going in. Aware of what he felt would come, Xabi Irureta held stong in goal against the first attacks by Carlo Ancelotti’s men, who enjoyed a triple chance that hit the post on one occasion. Minutes later, Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring with a free-kick, despite the fact that Eibar had come close to Keylor Navas’ box with a few chances on the counterattack. There was also time before the break for Javier Hernández 'Chicharito' to celebrate his first goal at the Santiago Bernabéu with a fantastic header.
In the second half, Eibar did everything they could with the counterattacks that Gaizka Garitano encouraged his players to make, however Real Madrid’s defence turned up each time to cut out the danger. For the Whites, Cristiano once again had the best chances, fed down the wing by Álvaro Arbeloa. However, the third goal came in the 84’ minute courtesy of Jesé Rodríguez. At the end, three goals turned into three points that keep Real Madrid in the fight for the title. Eibar will have to wait until next week to notch up points again.
