Another win for Valencia CF, who are refusing to drop the pace and remain immersed in the fight for the top four. Two strikes from forward Pablo Piatti saw Nuno Espírito Santo’s men beat Real Sociedad 2-0 on matchday 25 of the Liga BBVA.
The sides played out a first period that saw few chances. David Moyes' men dominated the midfield, preventing the hosts from finding their stride and attacking fluently, but as the minutes passed los ché became more incisive and managed to create danger around Gerónimo Rulli’s goal. However, they were unable to find a moment of cutting edge and the players went in for the break with the scores level.
In the second half, Real Sociedad showed greater vulnerability in defence and paid for their errors with two Piatti goals in just three minutes. The Argentine latched on to crosses by first Dani Parejo then Sofiane Feghouli to hand victory to a team offering no let-up in the battle for the UEFA Champions League places. Meanwhile, defeat for the visitors leaves them in mid-table on 27 points.
