In a direct duel for survival in the Liga Adelante, it was At. Osasuna who finished victorious by beating RC Recreativo 2-0 and condemning them to relegation.
The dramatic game began with no team dominating and plenty of nerves were evident in both teams. As a result, the first goal came from a set piece. Roberto Torres took the free-kick and Nikola Vujadinović headed home with 15 minutes on the clock.
Not long after Osasuna had a chance to double their lead with a similar move that lead to the goal. Torres took a free-kick, again from the right, and Raoul Loé’s header hit the post. Recreativo tried to ready though two efforts from Antonio Núñez, but before the break the youngster David Garcia smashed the ball past Dani Sotres after a cross from Torres from the right.
Naturally, Recreativo came out flying in the second half, but they struggled to create any danger for Osasuna goalkeeper Asier Riesgo. Osasuna, meanwhile, were sitting comfortably ahead in the game and had a couple more chances to extend the lead. The score remained the same, however, and Osasuna have their fate in their own hands next week as they try to clinch survival when they visit CE Sabadell, who are already relegated.
