Leganes continue purposeful stride towards promotion

The Madrilenian outfit stretched their lead at the top of the Liga Adelante thanks to a comeback win over Athletic B, on a matchday when Zaragoza slipped up and Nastic took advantage to move third.

Athletic Club B 1-2 CD Leganes

Table-topping Leganes bolstered their position and their promotion push by beating Athletic B in an encounter in which they were up against it in the first half. Gorka Santamaria just about squeezed the ball into the net following a goalmouth scramble to send the home team into the ascendancy with less than a quarter of an hour gone. However, second-half efforts from Alexander Szymanowski and Gabriel turned the game around, clinching three points for Asier Garitano's men and putting them four points clear of D. Alaves and six ahead of third-placed Gimnastic. As for the Basques, the defeat leaves them 12 points from safety.

AD Alcorcon 0-1 At. Osasuna

Osasuna kept their Liga BBVA promotion hopes alive after victory over Alcorcon saw the Pamplona-based outfit extend their unbeaten run to six games. The visitors claimed maximum points courtesy of an unfortunate own goal scored by Alcorcon goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic, who fluffed his clearance following a back pass and was left to look on helplessly as the ball rolled over the line. This result keeps Osasuna in the play-off places, whilst it brings an end to Alcorcon's 13-game unbeaten home run.

SD Huesca 3-1 UE Llagostera

Huesca took a massive stride towards Liga Adelante safety with a resounding win over Llagostera. A Darwin Machis goal on two minutes set Juan Antonio Anquela's side on their way and the hosts' early opener was followed by an Iñigo Lopez brace, which put the result beyond all doubt. The scoring was rounded off as Llagostera netted a late consolation through Jose Carlos. This win moves Huesca out of the drop zone, whilst it leaves 20th-placed Llagostera staring down the barrel.

CD Numancia 2-0 UD Almeria

Almeria saw their 10-game unbeaten run brought to a halt following a 2-0 reverse at Numancia. Unai Medina handed the hosts a first-half lead, which was doubled by Alex Alegria shortly after the break. This triumph makes it back-to-back wins for Numancia and moves Jagoba Arrasate's men into a comfortable mid-table position, whilst it leaves the Andalusians hovering just above the relegation spots.

RCD Mallorca 0-0 D. Alaves

Despite this one ending in a goalless stalemate, both Mallorca and Alaves remain well on course to achieve their respective end-of-season targets. The side from the Balearic Islands put another point on the board to place further distance between themselves and the bottom four, whilst a defence-minded display from the Vitoria outfit saw them bag a point to stay in the automatic promotion places.

R. Oviedo 1-0 Córdoba CF

The hosts' will to win led them to victory over a strong Cordoba side who gave their all, but ultimately ended up with nothing to show for their efforts. The only goal of the game came as Borja Valle's header from an outswinging corner was palmed away by Razak Brimah only as far as Josete, who stabbed home from point-blank range. Oviedo held out for a triumph which sees the Asturians retain their play-off place for another week.

Gimnastic 3-2 CD Mirandes

Nastic had to come from behind to scoop three points that leave them within striking distance of the automatic promotion berths. After Aridane had opened the scoring for Mirandes, Giorgi Aburjania equalised for the Catalans. A quick-fire double from Jose Naranjo then put the hosts on course for victory, despite the visitors reducing the deficit in the dying moments. Third-placed Nastic now lie just two points behind Alaves in second. Mirandes, meanwhile, have lost ground in the play-off hunt.

R. Valladolid CF 1-1 CD Lugo

Roger's last-gasp effort salvaged a point for Valladolid at Zorrilla. Joselu had put Lugo ahead with 20 minutes left on the clock following a fine move, but a penalty in added time allowed the home team to draw level. Although Jose Juan stopped Tiba's effort from the spot, Roger was first to the rebound to earn his side a draw. The result means that both sides remain in mid-table and a little way off the play-off spots.

Elche CF 1-1 Albacete

Victor Curto's late equaliser denied Elche victory and snatched a point for Albacete, who are still very much marooned in the relegation zone. Pelayo had broken the deadlock in the 71st minute, but Curto claimed a share of the spoils with a strike that wasn't without its fair share of good fortune. Despite stretching their unbeaten streak to nine games, the stalemate did Elche no favours, as they have fallen two points off the pace in the battle for the play-offs.

Girona FC 1-0 CD Tenerife

Girona moved to within a point of the play-off berths courtesy of Dejan Lekic's close-range finish. Pablo Machin's men, who have had a superb second half of the campaign, are now undefeated in 10 games in front of their fans. As for Tenerife, the reverse put paid to their own run of 10 matches without losing – home or away – and to their climb up the table.

SD Ponferradina 1-1 R. Zaragoza

Angel ensured promotion-chasing Zaragoza did not depart Ponferrada empty-handed by touching home in the 82nd minute, cancelling out Acoran's opener from 10 minutes earlier. The result puts relegation-threatened Ponferradina just a point away from safety, while Zaragoza continue to occupy a play-off place, albeit having slipped down to fifth.
