Addressing more than 200 guests from the business world who collaborate in sponsoring Gimnastic Tarragona, Javier Tebas gave a presentation on the development and management of professional football in Spain. The President of LaLiga shared several measures that could be applied in Liga Adelante, such as stopping the competition coinciding with international breaks or the possibility of a relegation play-off to Segunda B. Tebas highlighted the increase of 11% in attendances to the stadiums and defended third party property of the economic rights of players. "I think it is good for football because it protects the clubs, although the case Neymar is not the best example of what should be an investment fund. So there are problems. With the controls applied by LaLiga, everything should be okay”.
At the Tryp Port Cambrils, the President of LaLiga also referred to the declaration of independence of Catalonia initiated at the Parliament. “I don´t even value it. I hope that the Spanish government will act accordingly and prevents what they want to do. Barca will not play outside the Spanish League because I cannot imagine Spain without Catalonia or Catalonia without Spain."
On UEFA sanctions for the presence of stellate flags at the Camp Nou, Javier Tebas said that "FC Barcelona has every right to defend itself, but not for being a club member of LaLiga this organization has to defend it. In my view, the stellates are political symbols, although not illegal. UEFA forbid this in its statutes and therefore acts, LaLiga does not". On other sanction, from FIFA´s to FC Barcelona regarding the 'Masia Case', the President of LaLiga believes that "what FIFA must do is to protect the kids. FIFA prohibits what it doesn't have to prohibit, and allows to do what it should not be letting doing. For Tebas, "FC Barcelona was right in the application for registration of Arda Turan in the competition.”In my view, the sanction of two windows without signing had already prescribed".
The dinner was attended by the Board of Directors of Gimnastic Tarragona, led by President Josep Maria Andreu, in addition to first team coach, Vicente Moreno, and the mayor of the city, Josep Felix Ballesteros.
