The La Liga president was one of the guests of honour at the Sportel America convention, which brings together leaders from the worlds of sport, media and marketing. Javier Tebas gave a speech entitled 'Soccer Challenged the Audiovisual transformation and the Global Digital Environment'.
In front of the attendees, Tebas stated "La Liga needs to have a 360-degree presence, in every environment and across every format. 180 degrees of our work relates to broadcasting the live match and the remaining 180 is dedicated to reaching fans on digital platforms. Aside from traditional television, we have to develop applications in order to offer our fans from across globe with different experiences". Advances in the fight against audiovisual piracy also featured in the LFP president’s presentation: "If we don't use these digital formats correctly, they can quickly turn into our main competitors through illegal piracy."
Following that, La Liga's Strategic Projects Director, Ignacio Martínez Trujillo, took part in the roundtable discussion 'La Liga, the best showcase for transformative innovation'. Joining him were Steve Olechowski (CEO of Blinkfire), Gareth Capon (CEO of Grabyo) and Ignacio Arrola (in charge of marketing, commercial opportunities and new media for Gol Televisión). "Football has to be global and produce what people want to consume, and also provide the tools and content to do that. La Liga is dedicated to transformative innovation", declared Martínez Trujillo. According to Arrola, "what matters most is the method the content is distributed after the game as well as the content itself. Mediapro is working on this."
La Liga also had a visible presence at the Sportel America convention through a stand where visitors could check out the LFP's commitment towards applying new technologies to the world of football.
