Gareth Bale also falls victim to injury

Real Madrid have suffered another blow ahead of the return leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter final tie with Atlético Madrid, with the news that Gareth Bale will be out of action for the next few weeks after injuring his left calf muscle.

The club confirmed the Welshman’s injury on their official website, announcing that his recovery time would be determined by how he responds to the injury. The news comes just a day after the club confirmed that Luka Modrić would be out for up to six weeks with a knee strain.

Bale, who sustained the injury two minutes into Madrid’s game with Málaga CF on Saturday, will miss the Champions League clash with Atlético and at least two Liga BBVA matches. Now in his second season at Madrid, Bale has played 27 games and scored 13 goals this season.
