The second day of the 21st edition of the tournament kicked off with emotions running high. It would prove to be a successful day for FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, R. Sporting and Atletico Madrid, who all clinched semi-final places on an intense day of thrilling action involving the talented Under-12 teams which the Puerto de la Cruz crowd soaked up.

The Estadio Municipal El Peñon was packed to the rafters since the early morning in anticipation of the young sides battling it out in a bid to reach the quarter and semi-finals on the second day of the competition. Fair play and camaraderie were once again on display in every contest, while there were many moments of magic that will certainly live long in the memory. Javier Tebas, the LaLiga president, Jaume Roures, of MEDIAPRO, and former Atletico player Paulo Assunçao observed every kick of the action from the stands.

The morning fixtures were a series of evenly-matched affairs which saw Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, Real Betis, Real Madrid, Villarreal, Atletico de Madrid, Sevilla FC and Sporting play their way into the quarter-finals. The afternoon saw Barcelona seal their place in the semi-finals after beating the French side, before Sporting joined them in the last four with a win over Betis.

The excitement reached fever pitch as Madrid went head to head with Sevilla in a match which went to a penalty shootout after Los Blancos equalised in time added on. The last quarter-final game of the day also favoured a Madrid-based team as Atletico sealed their place in the last four courtesy of a late goal against Villarreal.

The semi-final draw left us two mouth-watering matches ahead of the final: Barcelona v Madrid and Sporting v Atletico. The four clubs will fight it out on Thursday for this prestigious trophy, to win a tournament that gathers future LaLiga stars all hoping to fulfil their dream of lifting the LaLiga Promises crown.
