Djukić's 'new' Córdoba start with a draw

Córdoba CF and Real Sociedad drew 1-1 in one of the fixtures on matchday 9 of the Liga BBVA. Through a goal from Xisco Jiménez in the final stages of the game, the Blanquiverdes managed to rescue a point in what was Miroslav Djukić's first game in charge.

Real Sociedad went out onto the field with huge intensity, looking to pressure the opposition area. Carlos Vela, with a curved shot that went high, had the first chance for the San Sebastián side, who finally found their reward in the 22nd minute. From a free kick taken by Sergio Canales, Vela touched the ball and Iñigo Martínez appeared to beat Juan Carlos and make it 0-1. Córdoba tried to respond and they pressed in the last few minutes of the first half, but the San Sebastián team were able to defend their lead until the break.

The Blanquiverdes persisted in search of the equaliser after half time, and they came very close in the 64th minute with a cross from Fidel Chaves that Xisco Jiménez was unable to finish in front of goal. Xisco himself managed to make amends for his mistake in the 87th minute, scoring the goal that made it 1-1 to earn a valuable point for his team.
