Vicente del Bosque announced, on the morning of Tuesday 26 May, the names of the players he has called up for the Spanish national team’s friendly against Costa Rica, which will take place in Reino de León on 11 June, as well as for the 2016 European Championship qualifier against Belorussia in Borisov on 14 June. Spain are second in Group C, having picked up 12 points from five encounters.
The squad is made up of the following names:
Porteros: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), David de Gea (Manchester United FC), Sergio Rico (Sevilla FC).
Defensas: Juanfran Torres (Atlético Madrid), Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid), Gerard Piqué (FC Barcelona), Marc Bartra (FC Barcelona), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Jordi Alba (FC Barcelona), Juan Bernat (FC Bayern München).
Centrocampistas: Sergio Busquets (FC Barcelona), Mikel San José (Athletic Club), Koke Resurrección (Atlético Madrid), Santi Cazorla (Arsenal FC), Andrés Iniesta (FC Barcelona), Cesc Fábregas (Chelsea FC), Isco Alarcón (Real Madrid), Aleix Vidal (Sevilla FC), Vitolo Machín (Sevilla FC).
Delanteros: Nolito (RC Celta), Pedro Rodríguez, (FC Barcelona), David Silva (Manchester City FC), Álvaro Morata (Juventus), Paco Alcácer (Valencia CF).
The manager of the national team also announced that, in order to be better prepared ahead of the upcoming matches, 14 of the names in his squad, as well as five younger players, will work start together for a period of 15 days beginning next week. Jonny Castro (Celta), Rubén Duarte (RCD Espanyol), Juanmi Jiménez (Málaga CF), Saúl Ñíguez (Atlético) and José Luis Gayà (Valencia) have been chosen to take part in these prolonged preparations.
