The Vicente Calderón Stadium will host one of the highlights of matchday 12 in the Liga BBVA between Atlético Madrid and Málaga CF, two teams in the top part of the table. The Rojiblancos, who go into the game off the back of a 2-1 loss to Real Sociedad, will look to regain their form and maintain their unbeaten home record. They face an Andalusian side who are in extraordinary form after five straight victories.
Team news
Atlético are without key man João Miranda, who suffered a hamstring injury in his left thigh in the friendly between Brazil and Austria. Guilherme Siqueira and Mario Suárez are also unavailable through suspension. Málaga also go into the fixture with a number of absences, with Flavio Ferreira, Roberto Rosales, Fernando Tissone and Nordin Amrabat all injured.
Views from the dugout
The Rojiblancos manager, Diego Simeone, was full of praise for his opponents in the press conference prior to the clash: "They have been performing well for a while. We’re more concerned with results but Málaga held Barcelona playing a very good game. They have a team with a lot of ambition going forward, technical quality and experience in the middle".
His counterpart in the Málaga dugout, Javi Gracia, was optimistic: "We're focused on facing the Liga BBVA champions. We're going to be an ambitious team, looking for the opposition goal and trying to defend well".
