Levante UD and RC Celta met on matchday 28 of the Liga BBVA. The game ended in a narrow victory for the visitors that came thanks to a Charles goal in the dying minutes. The Galicians also created clear goal-scoring opportunities through Fabián Orellana and Nolito.

Celta were the first to threaten on goal following a solo run by Santi Mina. The home-grown forward struck the ball as he entered the penalty area but saw his effort saved by Diego Mariño. Kalu Uche had a chance for Levante shortly afterwards with a header that came off the crossbar. Orellana came the closest to scoring in the first half when his shot crashed off the woodwork in the 43rd minutes; and following that failed attempt on goal, Levante quickly countered, a move that ended with Jonny putting the ball out for a corner.

Following the restart, Orellana had another opportunity to put the home side ahead, when his corner kick almost went straight into the net, like his team-mate Nolito had done before him, but Mariño saved his blushes with a save. Eduardo Berizzo’s men were the stronger of the two teams, although Levante also made their way into the final third of the pitch, albeit without ever looking too dangerous. Both managers made substitutions in search of a way of taking all three points, and Berizzo’s changes worked. The Argentine brought on Charles in the 78th minute and the Brazilian repaid him twelve minutes later by getting the winner after a great pass from Nolito. The game finished with the Galicians attacking deep in Mariño’s box.
