Casadesús seals a crucial win for Levante

Levante UD got an important 0-1 win against Getafe CF on matchday 33 of the Liga BBVA. A goal from Víctor Casadesús was enough for Levante to tip the game in their favour and get three vital points that help them to continue to move away from the drop zone. 

The game began with an intense Getafe side, who made various attacks forward into Diego Mariño’s box. It was the Levante keeper who prevented his side conceding the first goal after he came out on top in a one on one with Diego Castro. Getafe kept looking for a goal, but it was Levante who managed to open the scoring. Víctor Casadesús, scored after 35’ minutes with a great header that was ultimately decisive. 

Although the conceded goal damaged the home side’s morale, Pablo Franco’s side did everything they could to find an equaliser. Diego Castro was the most active players and he had the best chances while Freddy Hinestroza coming on also gave Getafe some hope. However, Mariño was always well positioned and was able to keep a clean sheet, helping his side to earn three golden pints. With this win, Levante have 32 points and are provisionally in 15th place; the Madrid side are in 13th on 36 points.
