To join one of the squads which are competing in the best league in the world is not easy. Much less to become a starter in one of the 20 teams.
The striker from Madrid, after passing through four clubs of Liga Adelante and to shine last year at Real Zaragoza, has achieved two targets: first, that his name is on one of the squads of the top flight, and then, when it has come the opportunity to be in the team, has 'stapled' the number 9 on his SD Eibar shirt proving his quality with goals.
But the course did not start in the best way for Borja, who saw how Mendilibar put his confidence on Sergi Enrich to spearhead the team's attack. He played several minutes in his first four games, but always coming off the bench and without scoring: 10' in Granada, 6' against Athletic, 9 'in Malaga and 19' against Atlético de Madrid.
The sign of the season changed when the "Armeros" visited Levante and Mendilibar granted him his first place in the team from the start. Bastón reacted with determination: two goals to win the full confidence of his manager. Since then, three goals in the three following games -against Celta, Las Palmas and Seville- to ratify his great state of form.
A total of five goals with something in common: they have been scored from inside the box, confirming the peculiarities of this archetypal penalty-area predator: Two with the right, one with the left and two headers.
