FC Barcelona were crowned champions of the 2017 LaLiga Promises International Tournament, staged at Independence Park and Riverbank Park in the city of Newark, New Jersey. A dramatic late winner handed the Catalans a 3-2 victory over Real Madrid and with it the title.

The American fans packed out the stands for the last day of the competition, which Barcelona and Valencia CF kicked off by contesting the first semi-final. Los Azulgranas once more showcased commendable solidity, not to mention fantastic firepower, to snare the first ticket to the final.

The second match of the morning pitted Real Madrid against Villarreal CF in a repeat of the semi-final between the pair a week ago in the LaLiga Promises National Tournament. On this occasion the result was different, the Madrilenians proving more clinical to secure a 1-0 win and set up a meeting with their biggest rivals in the title decider.

But first, there was an entertaining appetiser to come in the shape of the All-Star game. The LaLiga Santander ambassadors Christian Karembeu and Kiko captained the two combined teams formed for this encounter, which was played out in a great spirit. The crowd and players alike had a ball during what was a fun-filled spectacle.

The showpiece match was no less spectacular, LaLiga Promises witnessing its own version of El Clasico, which was an absolute cracker. Barcelona went ahead early on, but Real Madrid managed to turn around the scoreline in a game that was marked by its intensity in addition to the talent of the starlets on display. The Catalans pegged it back to 2-2 and then, in a grandstand finish, Iker Bravo bagged a late winner to spark wild celebrations among the Azulgranas fans.

Following their success at the National Tournament, Barcelona lifted their second trophy in a week to round off a weekend in which LaLiga and some of Spanish football's brightest young things captivated the United States.
