The Rojiblancos have taken just one point out of the last six and will be looking to arrest their slide against a Las Palmas side who boast the best shots-to-goals ratio in the division (20.1%).
Team News:
- Atletico Madrid: Augusto Fernandez, Filipe Luis, Alessio Cerci and Jan Oblak (all injured); Angel Correa (suspended).
- UD Las Palmas: Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sergio Araujo (both injured); David Garcia (suspended)
Match Facts:
Atletico (6th, 25 pts):
- In their last two league outings, the Madrilenians have been held to a goalless stalemate by RCD Espanyol, before succumbing to a sobering 3-0 reverse at the hands of Villarreal CF. On the back of these blips, Diego Simeone's charges - who have slipped down to sixth - will be eager to get back on track here. Atleti's previous meetings against Las Palmas provide reason for optimism, with the hosts having claimed four straight top-flight triumphs against the islanders, keeping clean sheets on each of these occasions.
-Whilst 679 minutes may have elapsed since Antoine Griezmann last found the back of the net, it's surely just a matter of time before the French hitman gets back on the goal trail. Atletico's number 7 would certainly seem to rather enjoy coming up against the Canary Islanders, after having notched three goals in his two appearances against them.
- Speaking in the build-up to the game, Simeone was gushing in his praise of the visitors: "Las Palmas are a fine footballing side."
Las Palmas (10th, 21 pts):
- The islanders' attacking play isn't purely limited to easy-on-the-eye football. Indeed, this term they've displayed a clinical streak and currently hold the honour of being the division's most prolific outfit, with a shots-to-goals ratio of 20.1%.
- Quique Setien's troops will be seeking to address their away-day blues and record only their second away success of the campaign. Their maiden victory came at Valencia CF back on Matchday 1, when they ran out 4-2 winners courtesy of a Marko Livaja brace and further strikes from Jonathan Viera and Kevin-Prince Boateng.
- Setien is keen for his side to remain faithful to their expansive playing style as they bid to emerge victorious at the Calderon, insisting in his pre-match press conference that, "The only way we're going to win is by getting on the ball and playing our game."
