Atlético Madrid are back to winning ways in the Liga BBVA after beating Málaga CF 3-1 in their Liga BBVA matchday 12 clash. Tiago Mendes, Antoine Griezmann and Diego Godín found the net for the home team, while Roque Santa Cruz scored for the Blanquiazules.
A double blow from the Rojiblancos in the first half gave them a 2-0 lead going into the break. The first to strike came from Tiago, from another set-piece, making the most of a corner, before Griezmann doubled the lead for his team after a ball from Arda Turan before the whistle went for half time.
The second half was a livelier encounter and both sides had their chances to alter the scoreboard. The change in pace led to a goal for the Andalusians after a great pass from Samu Castillejo allowed Santa Cruz to cut the deficit with an acrobatic finish. The visitors' comeback was short-lasted though, and Atleti completed their 26th consecutive home match without a loss after Godín put the match to bed with his team's third goal of the afternoon.
