Elche CF and Real Madrid face off on Sunday in matchday 24 of Liga BBVA. The home side are looking to maintain their place outside the relegation zone, a position they have achieved having won their last two games. However, in front of them is a Real Madrid side looking to take advantage of FC Barcelona’s defeat to increase their advantage at the top of the league.

Team news

Elche will be without Pedro Mosquera, who has a knee injury. Meanwhile, Madrid are without the injured quintet of Sergio Ramos, James Rodríguez, Sami Khedira, Luka Modrić and Fabio Coentrão.

"We go into the game in good shape, but these kind of sides ask a lot of you from the first to the last minute It is difficult but we really want to win”, said the home side’s coach, Fran Escribá.

His counterpart Carlo Ancelotti praised their opponents: “Elche have improved their play a lot, they are organised and confident. It is a difficult game that comes at the end of a good week for us and we would like to finish it in the best way possible”.
