RCD Espanyol defeated Levante UD 2-1 in one of the matchday 13 fixtures in the Liga BBVA. Though the visitors initially took the lead, Sergio González’s side pulled back to end a poor run of five games without a win.

The Power8 Stadium witnessed a thrilling first half, with chances for both sides and three goals. It was Levante who struck first when José Morales got on the end of Kiko Casilla’s clearance to make it 0-1 in the 12th minute. Far from buckling, Espanyol managed to equalise the match within just seven minutes, when Felipe Caicedo overcame Diego Mariño with a shot to the far post. The Blanquiazules’ response went further, with a Sergio García goal in the 34th minute culminating the fight-back.

The second half was much more broken and unhurried, with heavy rain taking its toll. While Levante fought to equalise, Espanyol were able to control the pace of the game and earn three vital points.
