Morata proves the difference for Spain

Spain beat Ukraine 1-0 in their fifth UEFA EURO 20016 qualifier.

The winning goal was scored by Juventus striker Álvaro Morata in the 28th minute. The win takes Spain up to second in Group C, on 12 points, three behind leaders Slovenia.

The only goal of the night came about thanks to a move between Andrés Inista and Jorge Resurrección 'Koke' - the Atlético Madrid man then set up Morata, who scored his first goal for Spain's first team.

Sergio Ramos then had a great chance to make it 2-0 but his header crashed off the crossbar.

After the break Iker Casillas denied the visitors an equaliser as he reacted quickly from a set piece in the 67th minute. Ukraine kept searching for an equaliser but the scoreline stayed as it was until the final whistle sounded.

Spain's next match is a friendly game away to the Netherlands on 31 March, while their next EURO 2016 qualifier is against Belarus on 14 June.
