Villarreal CF has renewed Marcelino García Toral for three seasons. Castellon club and the coach from Asturias have reached an agreement to extend until 2019 the contract that bound them to the end of this season.
The manager leads a Villarreal who is fifth in Liga BBVA, but he wrote his best chapter in the competition in matchday 6, when the Yellow team jumped to the top of the standings for the first time in its history after winning 1-0 Atletico Madrid with a goal from Léo Baptistão.
His one touch football and defensive solidity was reflected in the good results reaped during the month of September, in which he was named Liga BBVA Manager of the Month. Twelve of twelve possible points in important victories against Atlético de Madrid, Malaga CF, Granada CF and Athletic Club, endorsed the prestigious award to the Asturian coach.
