Fernando Martinez has received the LaLiga SmartBank Player of the Month Award for November. The UD Almeria shot-stopper was a vital member of the Andalusian outfit in the penultimate month of the year, in which they racked up 13 points through four wins and one draw.
The Murcia-born keeper played a key role in the team managed by Rubi, managing to keep a clean sheet in four of the five matches played in November and conceding a solitary goal at home to Real Valladolid, although this did not prevent the three points from remaining at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos. Their results last month saw Almeria extend their unbeaten run to eight games.
Fernando Martinez has become irreplaceable for the Catalan coach and is the first name on his team sheet every matchday. He has played the most minutes for the club this season and is one of the architects behind Almeria having conceded the fewest goals in the division, with just 13 against.
The Almeria goalkeeper managed come out on top in the voting ahead of the other candidates for the award: Enric Gallego, the CF Tenerife player, and Sergi Enrich, who plays for SD Ponferradina.
