Real Madrid look to re-establish themselves in Europe

Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund meet on Wednesday for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie.

The Whites, who are still unbeaten so far in the competition, will be looking to make the most of their home advantage in order to get a favourable result in the Santiago Bernabéu that would help them take a gigantic step towards the semifinals for what would be the fourth year in a row. "We are 100% ready for this encounter. We are motivated and everyone knows how much this competition means to us", Carlo Ancelotti said ahead of the match. The Italian manager will be without Álvaro Arbeloa, Marcelo Vieira, Sami Khedira and Jesé Rodríguez, who are all injured.

Facing them is a Borussia Dortmund side that sent Real Madrid out of last year's semifinals and will be trying to upset the team form the Spanish capital yet again. However, this time round Jürgen Klopp will be out a string of important players such as Neven Subotić, Marcel Schmelzer, Sven Bender, İlkay Gündoğan and Jakub Błaszczykowski. Also missing for the Germans is Robert Lewandowski, the team's top goal scorer (6), who is suspended for this game.
