Córdoba CF and Valencia CF meet this Saturday in the Liga BBVA in one of the games of matchday 24. The Andalusians go into the encounter out to get back to winning ways after five straight matches without victory, while Valencia will aim to continue their good form after seeing off Getafe 1-0 on the most recent matchday.
The visitors are on a run of four wins in their last five games. Meanwhile, the story of this fixture without doubt is Córdoba boss Miroslav Djukić's renewal of acquaintances with his former employers.
Team news
The home side will have to do without three important absentees, chief of which is Fede Cartabia – a key man in Djukić's system – who cannot play due to the terms of his loan deal from Valencia. The suspended Patrick Ekeng, and Iago Bouzón, who is on the treatment table, will also be unavailable. Valencia are likewise affected by a trio of significant absences. Paco Alcácer is out with injury issues, while Antonio Barragán and Enzo Pérez serve suspensions due to accumulated yellow cards.
Views from the dugout
Córdoba coach Djukić spoke of the confidence that he has in his players: "We can beat anyone; we've shown that and we have to go after Valencia." Meanwhile, Nuno Espírito Santo admitted that "the need for points" means that every match "is difficult". "It's going to be a very tricky game. We'll try to seek out our opponents' weaknesses and push forward our strengths," said the Portuguese.
