Real Sociedad de Fútbol and Sevilla FC drew 1-1 in an exciting match at the Anoeta. Jairo put the visitors ahead in the first half before Griezmann levelled things up in the second.

The Anoeta hosted two sides who came into the game in different form. The side from the Basque Country haven’t tasted victory in Liga BBVA this season since the opening round of fixtures, whilst Unai Emery’s side arrived in San Sebastián having won their first game of the campaign on Wednesday against Rayo Vallecano.

Sociedad boss Jagoba Arrasate went with Imanol Agirretxe as the focal point of his attack, with Carlos Martínez returned to the starting eleven, and Gonzalo Castro replacing the injured Xabi Prieto. Emery opted for Kevin Gameiro as his main attacking threat, supported by a trio of Piotr Trochowski, Ivan Rakitić and Jairo Samperio. Indeed, it was Rakitić who combined with Jairo to open the scoring. The Croatia international played the ball over the top, and the former Real Racing Club man controlled before slotting the ball past Claudio Bravo in the 18th minute. Trochowski should have doubled the away side’s advantage just before the break, however the German contrived to miss when it looked for all the world as if he would score.

In the second half, Carlos Vela claim close to equalising in the 57th minute, but Beto diverted the Mexican’s header onto the post. La Real heaped on the pressure, and Antoine Griezmann levelled the scored after 66 minutes. With five minutes to go, Sevilla’s Juan Cala was sent off for a second bookable offence, and the game ended 1-1 in San Sebastián.
