Success strikes
Sevilla started the day with the worst away record in the top half of the table, and without a road win to date, and were soon trailing at the Nuevo Los Carmenes.
Ruben Rochina was unchallenged as he broke towards the edge of the Sevilla area after 17 minutes. Sergio Rico got down to parry his low drive but Nigerian striker Isaac Success put in the rebound for his fourth of the season.
Peñaranda stunner
Granada’s three centre-backs were stifling Sevilla’s attempts to get the ball forward to Fernando Llorente, and the hosts always looked dangerous on the counter-attack.
Venezuelan striker Adalberto Peñaranda doubled Granada’s lead with an outstanding solo effort in the 37th minute. The 18-year-old picked up a loose ball and surged diagonally across the pitch passing three defenders and fired low past Rico for his fourth Liga BBVA goal.

Sevilla reaction
Sevilla had barely threatened but Llorente finally made his presence felt before the break. His flick-on found Kevin Gameiro and the Frenchman’s shot was only parried and Vitolo bundled the ball in from close range.
Granada keeper Andres Fernandez maintained his side’s advantage with a great reflex save from a Jose Antonio Reyes volley just after the re-start.
Granada hang on
The introduction of Ever Banega lifted Sevilla in the second period and they looked more like the team who started the day unbeaten in five, but despite creating a string of chances they failed to find an equaliser and a late red card for Adil Rami took the steam out of their sails.
