The champions remain on the march. Joseba Agirre's charges chalked up their fifth win on the spin by dispatching Basque rivals Oiartzun, with starlet Lucia Garcia in influential form. Yulema Corres broke the deadlock 18 minutes in, before Vanesa Gimbert doubled the scoreline after the interval. Corres claimed her second goal to make it 3-0 and then efforts from Maite Lizaso and Nekane Diez completed the rout.
Real Sociedad 6-1 Zaragoza CFF
La Real slayed some of the goalscoring demons that have plagued them this term by hitting Zaragoza for six. It was an attacking masterclass from Igor San Miguel's troops, for whom Nerea Eizagirre and Nahikari Garcia both bagged braces. While the Basques basked in their biggest victory of the campaign, the away team's long winless run goes on and they must now be starting to look nervously over their shoulders as they attempt to avoid being dragged into the danger zone.
Xavi Llorens's side positively wiped the floor with their neighbours in order to temporarily move top of the table, despite once again taking a while to make the breakthrough. Several chances had been and gone, including one that struck the woodwork, before Andressa Alves fired Barça ahead in the 40th minute. Jenni Hermoso (2), Vicky Losada and Barbara Latorre got the rest of the goals against Luismi Marin's strugglers, who barely offered any resistance and continue to occupy the second relegation spot.
Santa Teresa CD 0-2 Rayo Vallecano
The Madrilenians captured three precious points in a showdown with fellow Copa de la Reina contenders. Sheila Garcia opened the scoring shortly after the quarter-hour mark and Natalia Pablos sewed up the spoils with an hour gone. Despite beating Real Sociedad and Barcelona in their last two home fixtures, Santa Teresa were unable to muster any sort of response.
Levante UD 2-0 Sporting Huelva
Besides what is looking like being a thrilling battle at the summit, there is an intriguing three-horse race taking shape just behind the two title pretenders, with Valencia CF, Athletic and Levante all in the running for the metaphorical bronze medal. Les Granotes, who had threatened to challenge for the championship earlier in the season, showcased their class again this matchday, overcoming a plucky performance from their visitors from Huelva to prevail courtesy of a Charlyn Corral penalty and a strike from substitute Nerea Perez.
Granadilla Egatesa 8-1 F. Albacete
The crowd in Tenerife enjoyed a goal fest at Albacete's expense. Although the away side took the lead in the 20th minute, this served only to spark the hosts into action and Tony Ayala's troops duly went up the other end and equalised, before rattling in another seven goals to secure an emphatic victory and reclaim sixth place in the table. Albacete, for their part, remain just a point above the drop zone.
Atletico Madrid 11-0 UD Tacuense
After Granadilla had thrown down the goal gauntlet in the previous encounter, the league leaders responded in style with an even more resounding triumph to surge back to the top. Sonia Bermudez and Marta Corredera spearheaded the charge for Angel Villacampa's team with a hat-trick apiece.
There was another five-star display to wrap up the matchday as Valencia made light work of Betis, one of the best footballing sides in the division, to retake third spot. Mari Paz Vilas and Estefania Banini did the bulk of the damage, both scoring twice, while Carolina Ferez was also on target.
