Athletic Club 3-2 Real Betis

Liga Iberdrola Matchday 19 was kick-started with a real barnstormer of a game featuring no fewer than five goals and excitement right down to the wire. The Andalusians went ahead through young hotshot Paula Moreno inside the opening quarter of an hour, before Yulema Corres and Lucia Garcia turned things around within the space of a couple of minutes. Although Cristina Muñoz drew the visitors level in the second half, Nekane Diaz broke Betis hearts and ensured all three points stayed in Bilbao with a dramatic stoppage-time winner.

Atletico Madrid 1-0 F. Albacete

There was more injury-time drama in store in Madrid, as the Liga Iberdrola leaders stole the spoils at the death to keep up their charge towards the title. Lowly Albacete proved to be dogged, well-drilled opponents and – with a helping hand from the woodwork – looked set to end Atletico's winning run, only for Laura Fernandez to collect Kenti Robles's cross and rifle past Elena de Toro from close range in the 92nd minute.

Santa Teresa CD 1-0 Real Sociedad

After beating FC Barcelona two matchdays ago, Santa Teresa produced another impressive home performance to prevail against one of their rivals for Copa de la Reina qualification. A solitary goal from veteran Vania was enough to overcome a Real Sociedad side who failed to close the gap on the top eight, while the hosts move up to seventh.

Levante UD 2-1 RCD Espanyol

Les Granotes recorded a timely first triumph of 2017 after a four-game winless run. Maria Jose Perez and Adriana Martin put Levante firmly in the driving seat in the first half and, though Luana de Lima pulled one back for relegation-threatened Espanyol towards the end of the encounter, there were to be no late twists at El Terrer.

Valencia CF 2-0 Sporting Huelva

Cristian Toro's charges' good run continues, following another victory complete with a clean sheet. Debora Garcia set Valencia on their way in the 22nd minute and Mari Paz Vilas settled the contest with 10 minutes remaining. The result sees Las Che stay third, while Sporting slip to ninth.

Oiartzun KE 2-0 UD Tacuense

The Basques claimed a crucial win in their relegation battle, overcoming bottom-of-the-table Tacuense thanks to second-half efforts from Jone Bilbao and Eguzkiñe Peña. The visitors remain adrift at the foot of the standings, while Oiartzun now have some daylight between themselves and the dreaded drop zone.

Granadilla Egatesa 2-0 Zaragoza CFF

The Tenerife outfit stopped the rot and got back to winning ways after three straight defeats. Granadilla grew into the game and opened the scoring with 10 minutes to go in the first half through Ana Gonzalez. The American defender Jackie Simpson sewed up the points after the restart.

FC Barcelona 3-0 Rayo Vallecano

The Catalans are not giving up in their bid for the title and responded to Atletico's latest victory by cutting the Rojiblancas' lead back down to four points. Xavi Llorens's troops broke the deadlock in the 34th minute, Patri Guijarro expertly bringing down a looping pass, turning past a defender and drilling into the net. Despite having a host of chances, it was not until the latter stages that Barcelona made sure of the spoils courtesy of left-footed finishes from Andressa Alves and Marta Unzue.
