- Opened on 5 September 2000 with a friendly match between SD Ponferradina and RC Celta de Vigo which ended 0-2.
- The first official match held in El Toralín was Ponferradina vs Universidad de Oviedo in the third matchday of 2000/01 Second Division B . The game ended 1-0, with a goal of Jesús Panadero.
- The ground has hosted three official matches of the Spanish Under-21: A Spain vs Bosnia (5-1) of qualifying stage for Euro 2002; a Spain vs Poland (3-0) for Euro 2009 and a Spain vs Liechtenstein (3-1) qualifying for the European 2011.
- Its name comes from the Ponferrada´s area, known as “The Toralín”, where the stadium was built.
- It has been remodeled twice. The first was in 2006, when the stands were expanded to 8,200 seats after promotion to Liga Adelante. The second, to expand capacity up to 8,800 spectators on the occasion of the 2011/12 Copa del Rey clash against Real Madrid.
