The aim of the organisation is to exchange knowledge and experience in relation to management and safety of football stadiums. ESSMA is a non-profit organisation and is formed by the professional European football leagues, clubs and companies linked to the sport.
Alfredo Lorenzo, director of Security for La Liga, will represent the LFP on ESSMA's Governing Board. Lorenzo will be in charge to keeping the clubs informed of the body's actions, as well as communicating proposals and coordinating activities that the LFP participate in.
Lorenzo stated that "in meetings with ESSMA we have been able to see that the association is a suitable platform for sharing experiences and good practices with regard to stadium safety and management". Likewise, he is convinced that cooperation between the LFP and ESSMA will be beneficial for both organizations and all of their members.
In turn, the European Stadium and Safety Management Association welcomed the LFP and declared that "it is an honour to collaborate with one of the most prestigious leagues in Europe". The governing board of ESSMA committed to support the integration of La Liga over the coming weeks.
