Match Facts:

RCD Espanyol (9th, 43 pts):

- Espanyol lost on their visit to San Mames on the last matchday, made worse by the fact that the defeat was inflicted by one of their direct rivals in the battle for Europe. However, Espanyol are not giving up on their bid to situate themselves as one of the top teams on the continent and will go all out for the three points against Alaves to take them one step closer to fulfilling their dream.

- Espanyol return to the RCDE Stadium, where Quique Sanchez Flores' charges have won their last three home games: against Real Betis, UD Las Palmas and CA Osasuna.

D. Alavés (11th, 40 pts):

- Alaves are having a fantastic season on their return to LaLiga Santander. After reaching the Copa del Rey final, the objective at hand now is to finish as high as possible in the table. In spite of back-to-back defeats, spirits remain high at Mendizorroza.

- "We need to keep improving, to work on our mistakes and focus on Saturday's game," said Oscar Romero after the final whistle against Osasuna. The Uruguayan player joined the Vitorian outfit in the winter transfer window and has since been one of the most regular players on Mauricio Pellegrino's team sheet.
