RCD Espanyol and Villarreal kick off LaLiga Promises with back-to-back victories.

GROUP A

RCD Espanyol again demonstrated the tremendous potential of their academy team by winning all four games in a group that included D. Alaves, Real Madrid, Cadiz CF y SD Eibar. Los pericos topped the table with a maximum of 12 points, ahead of runners-up Real Madrid with 7 points and D. Alaves, whose gritty performances earned them third position. Fourth-placed Cadiz CF also qualify for the round of 16, with SD Eibar failing to make the cut.

GROUP B

The quality of Valencia CF’s academy protégés was also on show in the Ciudad Deportiva Pamesa Cerámica in Vila-real, leading their group with a total of 10 points. The Valencian youngsters notched up consecutive victories over Real Sociedad, Granada and CD Leganes and drew against Sevilla, earning them a pass to the final sixteen. Sevilla came second place in the table with six points ahead of Real Sociedad and Granada, who also managed a ticket to the knockout stage. Leganes UD, with just one point, was eliminated.

GROUP C

Real Betis was the best performing team in their group, coming top in the table after victories against Atletico Madrid, R. Valladolid and CA Osasuna and a draw against RC Celta. Atletico Madrid, accruing six points, managed second place with R. Valladolid in third following victory against CA Osasuna, who were eliminated on goal difference with RC Celta. 

GROUP D

The group stage saw another shining performance from Villarreal, who managed to glean an impeccable four victories out of four matches. Trailing them in second place were Barcelona, notching up two victories. Levante UD and Getafe CF also made it to the next round with four points apiece, leaving last-placed RCD Mallorca out of the running for the PAMESA LaLiga Promises Santander trophy.

Round of 16

The round of 16 and quarter-final matches of the tournament will be played on Saturday and the winners will battle it out to see who will be crowned champion of the 29th edition of the PAMESA LaLiga Promises Santander National Tournament. The pairings for this round of the competition are as follows:

Granada – D. Alaves
Atletico Madrid - Getafe CF
FC Barcelona - R. Valladolid
RCD Espanyol - Real Sociedad
