Quique Gonzalez's goal tally matches the number on the back of his shirt (9) and has been all the more vital, given it has earned UD Almeria a whopping 12 points, providing a huge boost for the club and an injection of hope for the final stage of the Liga Adelante campaign.
The team have felt the benefits of the Spaniard's eye for goal, with his recent strikes clinching victory over Girona FC (1-0) and a draw against stiff opposition in the shape of his former club, R. Valladolid (1-1). The Andalusian outfit have taken enormous strides forward towards safety in their last three matches and are enjoying a surge in form that they hope to maintain until the season reaches its conclusion.
The 25-year-old returned to Almeria last summer after a loan spell at Real Racing and quickly cemented his place in the starting line-up. The managerial merry-go-round at the club has seen three different coaches take their place in the home dugout at the Juegos Mediterraneos stadium so far this campaign, with all three convinced by the striker's ability, as shown by him featuring in 30 of his side's 32 Liga Adelante matches. Almeria are unbeaten in seven games with two wins and five draws, but remain in the relegation places and will no doubt need further goals from the top scorer to secure their Liga Adelante future over the remaining 10 games.
