On 30 March, LaLiga took part in a congress held in Madrid organised by Transparency International Spain (TI Spain) and the Spanish Network of the UN Global Compact, with the presence of Esperanza Bernal-Quiros, LaLiga's head of compliance. Entitled Business strategies and practical tools for preventing corruption in the private sector, the event brought together experts and heads of corporate social responsibility and compliance from different companies. Its purpose was to tackle the challenges posed by the Law on Transparency, and to analyse the changes which are occurring in Spanish organisations and the tools which are being used in this sphere.

Jesus Sanchez-Lambas, a member of the Executive Committee of Transparency International Spain, and Isabel Garro, the director-general of the Spanish Network of the UN Global Compact, were tasked with inaugurating the congress. The first part consisted of appearances by TI Spain researchers and LaLiga's head of compliance, Esperanza Bernal-Quiros, whilst the second part featured professionals from four companies who recounted their experiences in large organisations to those in attendance.

"At LaLiga we have implemented a compliance management system. Not only is it for the prevention and detection of crimes, but it goes further and attempts to prevent and detect other risks, such as operational, reputational and strategic ones," assured Bernal-Quiros, LaLiga's head of compliance. Among other measures, this system includes a channel for reporting irregularities, the management of which is initially outsourced in order to guarantee confidentiality and prevent reprisals. In addition, tools are being developed internally to manage travel and the settlement of expenses incurred by professionals on behalf of LaLiga, and in the near future a policy setting quantitative limits on gifts, invitations, hospitality, contributions and charitable donations will be approved.
