Following on from an enthralling, fiercely contested 38 matchdays, packed full of goals and drama, we can now announce the LaLiga Fantasy XI, the side that all of you aspiring coaches have been dreaming of. Thanks to LaLiga's official statistics, we have been able to determine which players have been the division's top performers this term.
The best represented club in the Team of the Season is Atletico Madrid, with four of their players taking their places in the lineup, whilst two members of the FC Barcelona squad made the cut. The LaLiga Fantasy Player of the Season crown goes to Leo Messi, who notched up 457 points, with the Argentine's goalscoring exploits, countless assists and all-round performances enough to see him scoop the title.
The number 1 jersey is claimed by the man who conceded the fewest goals in LaLiga, the Rojiblancos Jan Oblak (206 points), who represents a really safe pair of hands between the sticks. The Slovene has two familiar faces in front of him in defence, in the shape of Atletico teammates Juanfran (230) and Diego Godin (190). They are joined at the back by Real Madrid marauder Marcelo (241) and R. Sporting's Luis Hernandez (160).
Head and shoulders above the rest in the middle of the park is Koke, who amassed 368 points. Rounding off the midfield are UD Las Palmas schemer Jonathan Viera (310), Athletic Club's Beñat (309) and Getafe CF's Pablo Sarabia (293). Meanwhile, the attack is an all-Barça affair, with Neymar (451) partnering the aforementioned Messi.
This lineup has been put together using a completely objective scoring system that measures players' contributions in a number of areas every matchday. Based on this statistical system, these 11 players have outperformed the rest over the course of the campaign.
