With the aim of achieving economic sustainability for professional football, it is necessary to provide as much transparency as possible in terms of financial information. In this regard, the Liga de Fútbol Profesional has presented the clubs and SADs (Sports Corporations) with the Informe Económico del Fútbol Profesional (Professional Football Financial Report), which contains detailed information about the 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons.
The Financial Report shows how there has been an increase in terms of revenues during a period in which the country has been affected by the financial crisis. This increase amounts to a growth of 5.4% with a total of €2.3 billion earned last season. Additionally, the report also makes reference to the stability in terms of revenue streams as well as the net business turnover.
One of the other standout features of the report is the reduction in the debt owed by clubs and SADs that make up the Liga de Fútbol Profesional to the Public Administration. This debt stood at €496 million at the end of the 2013-14 season, a reduction of €139 million compared with the 2012-13 campaign.
Using detailed graphs and illustrations, the report also shows other facts such as the improvements in terms of profitability, the overall improved financial position, as well as the evolution and increased usage with regards to digital resources.
