Racing C. after winning 2-4 in the game on matchday 39 of the Liga Adelante, a match in which the Andalusian side had to make a comeback following the Cantabrian sides opening goal. In turn, Pepe Mel’s men continue in the top spot on 81 points and can secure direct promotion to the Liga BBVA next week.

The opening minutes of the game came and went with two quite even sides out on the pitch. As the minutes ticked on, the Andalusia side would took possession of the ball, however, it was to be the Cantabrian side who would strike first. In the 22nd minute, Iñaki Sáenz went down the left wing and crossed for Mamadou Sylla to head in the opening goal. The home side’s joy was short lived, five minutes later, Bruno González scored from a pass from Foued Kadir to equalise. The two sides aimed to break the deadlock and just before the break, Rubén Castro combined with Kadir to make it 1-2 with a great shot that slipped its way through into the net.

Pepe Mel’s men killed off the game at the start of the second half in the 50’ minute when Jorge Casado put a great pass through the Racing defence that Rubén Castro finished off in a one-on-one. Afterwards, in the 55’ minute, Jorge Molina connected with a really powerful shot from the edge of the area that wormed its way in on the left of Germán’s goal. Racing did not throw in the towel and managed to reduce the deficit through David Concha, who took advantage from a foul by Casado to beat Antonio Adán with a great left-footed shot from the edge of the area. The home side never gave in but the game ended at 2-4.
