FC Barcelona is the most followed online sporting entity in the world (75 million), which explains the blaugrana’s strong presence on social media sites. On top of that, the club has 44 million followers on Facebook and 17 million more between its 17 official Twitter accounts. The club’s Instagram account, one of the most active networks at the moment, will surpass a million followers in the upcoming days.

The Catalan club has also surpassed the one million-subscriber mark on its Youtube and Google+ accounts, with over 6 million loyal followers. By launching their account on the website back in November 2011, Barca was the pioneer amongst the LFP clubs.

This dominance over other sporting clubs is also evident with the first team. Taking all the various social media accounts of the first team players together, the number of followers surpasses 178 million.

Lionel Messi’s numbers make him one of the most valuable sportsmen in the world. The Argentine is the Barcelona player with the biggest presence on Facebook, with over 47 million followers. Andres Iniesta, with 14 million, and Neymar, with 13 million, occupy the second and third positions in the club’s technological league table.
