Previously... Manolo Hierro (Vélez-Málaga, Málaga, 1962) is a Spanish football player who played in defence for CD Málaga, Real Valladolid CF, FC Barcelona, Real Betis Balompié and CD Tenerife.

His achievements... During his 13 seasons in professional football, Manolo Hierro played a total of 206 matches in the Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante. He started his career with CD Málaga, where he played for six seasons after finding a place in the first team, before playing for Valladolid for two years. In 1988 he signed for Barcelona, but before making his first-team debut, he set off for Seville to play for Betis. He spent his final years as a professional at Tenerife, where he played 74 matches between 1989 and 1993.

After hanging up his boots... He ended his playing career in the 1992/93 season, but decided to stay in the world of football. He worked as sports director at Málaga and subsequently started his managerial career, coaching Málaga in 2006 and CD Puertollano in the 2007/08 season.

Did you know... Manolo Hierro is the brother of ex-players Antonio and Fernando Hierro. He coincided with his brother Antonio at CD Málaga, which is why he was known as 'Hierro II'.
