Sevilla FC and Real Betis, the stars of the Seville Derby, are among the few clubs that can boast of being champions of LALIGA EA SPORTS. With a long history of head-to-head clashes and many fascinating stories in ELGRANDERBI, both clubs have a league title in their trophy cabinets—a feat achieved by only seven other Spanish clubs.

Sevilla FC has filled its trophy rooms in recent years, especially on the continental stage. The club has won an impressive seven Europa League titles, the most recent being last season (2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2020, and 2023). To this, they have added one UEFA Super Cup (2006), one Spanish Super Cup (2007), and five Copa trophies under its various names (1935, 1939, 1948, 2007, and 2010).

Alongside these honors, Sevilla holds one LALIGA EA SPORTS title, won in 1946 with Ramón Encinas as manager and Campos (15 goals), Arza (14), and Araujo (11) as the top scorers. The core team featured Busto in goal; Joaquín, Antúnez, and Villalonga in defense; and a midfield composed of Herrera, Eguiluz, and Alconero. In attack, López joined the leading goalscorers.

The Sevillistas finished with 36 points (in a 26-match season featuring 14 teams), while Barcelona took second place with 35 points. Athletic Club finished third (33) and Real Madrid fourth (31). Despite having only one title, Sevilla’s league performance in recent years has shown great consistency, achieving high-ranking finishes. Real Betis competed in LALIGA HYPERMOTION during that season.

The Sevillian side has also been the LALIGA EA SPORTS runner-up on four other occasions during the 1940s and 50s. Furthermore, they have claimed the LALIGA HYPERMOTION championship four times, most recently in 2001.

As for Real Betis, their history is highlighted by three Copa del Rey titles (1977, 2005, and 2022), seven LALIGA HYPERMOTION championships (the most recent in 2015), and one LALIGA EA SPORTS title, achieved in 1935. These are the major honors of Real Betis.

The Verdiblancos finished that winning season with 34 points, edging out Real Madrid (33) and Real Oviedo (26). Sevilla FC finished fifth with 24 points. The Sevillian team cemented its title victory with, among other results, a resounding 0-3 win at Nervión. The Verdiblancos took the top spot in the table on matchday three and never relinquished their lead. At the time, the division consisted of 12 teams playing a 22-match schedule.

The team, which then played at the Patronato Obrero Stadium, was managed by Andrés Aranda. Urquiaga was the goalkeeper, with Aedo, Cornejo, and Peral in defense.
