Marc Pubill scores the first goal of the Olympics

The football tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games kicked off this past week and it was a LALIGA player who netted the first goal. UD Almería’s Marc Pubill scored an early opener in Spain’s 2-1 victory over Uzbekistan, which was the first goal of the entire Olympics. 

Atlético de Madrid strengthen their defence with Robin Le Normand 

Diego Simeone has a new centre-back to work with next season, as Atlético de Madrid have completed the signing of Robin Le Normand. The Spain international, who just won Euro 2024 with La Roja, arrives from Real Sociedad with 167 games of LALIGA EA SPORTS experience under his belt. 

Endrick is presented at the Bernabéu

After they presented Kylian Mbappé at the Bernabéu earlier in the month, Real Madrid held another player presentation this past weekend. This time, Brazilian forward Endrick was presented to Los Blancos’ fanbase, following his arrival from Palmeiras. 

Adrián Embarba returns to Vallecas 

Adrián Embarba has completed a loan transfer from UD Almería to Rayo Vallecano, returning to the club where he started out his professional career. The winger played 196 times for Rayo Vallecano, before continuing his career with RCD Espanyol and UD Almería. 

Girona FC continue to build out their squad

As they prepare to participate in the Champions League for the first time, Girona FC continue to add depth to their squad. Their most recent signing is Alejandro Francés, the highly rated 21-year-old centre-back who arrives from Real Zaragoza. 

UD Las Palmas’ busy summer continues 

UD Las Palmas are preparing for their first season under new coach Luis Carrión and have signed many players already. Striker Oli McBurnie and winger Adnan Januzaj are the latest to have arrived in the Canary Islands.  

Luka Romero is back in LALIGA EA SPORTS

Although he’s still only 19 years of age, Luka Romero is now with his third team in LALIGA EA SPORTS. After making his debut in the competition with RCD Mallorca back in 2020, he then played with UD Almería last season and has now signed with Deportivo Alavés ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. 

Pau Víctor is staying with FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona completed a transfer this past week. The Blaugrana agreed a deal with Girona FC to sign Pau Víctor on a permanent deal, with the forward putting pen to paper on a contract that’ll run until 2029. He spent last season on loan with FC Barcelona’s B team, scoring 20 goals in 39 games. 

Hansi Flick is presented by FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona’s new coach Hansi Flick was officially presented to the media this past week, and held an introductory press conference. “Barça expect to compete for titles and that’s why I’m here, I’m very happy with what I’ve seen so far.”

Pre-season is up and running

All the LALIGA EA SPORTS clubs are very much in pre-season mode, ahead of the kick off to the new season on August 15th. Some are training and playing friendlies in Spain, while others are jetting off around the world for pre-season tours.
