Rayo Vallecano edged closer to survival after beating UD Almería 2-0 on matchday 32 in the Liga BBVA. The Madrid side won the game thanks to goals by Antonio Amaya and Miku Fedor.
Rayo played well in the first half as they sought to avenge their embarrassing 6-1 defeat to RC Celta at Baláidos. They took the lead on 24 minutes when Antonio Amaya headed in a fine cross from Zé Castro. Despite conceding, Almería kept attacking with pace, but Wellington Silva could not beat Rayo stopper Toño.
The game was a more even affair in the second half, with both sides creating clear chances. Thievy Bifouma almost beat Toño with a shot that deflected off Thomas Partey, and at the other end Rubén produced a double save to deny Rayo a second. But Rayo did manage to kill the game off right at the end, when Gaël Kakuta drove forward into the box to lay the ball on a plate for Miku Fedor to tap in with ease.
