Villarreal CF continue to bolster their squad ahead of next Friday’s deadline, drafting in striker Thierno Barry with an eye on European qualification next season. Coach Marcelino Garcia Toral had been on the lookout for a striker with different characteristics to those already on offer in the squad, and the man from Lyon is the man chosen to fill that need.
1.95m in stature, Barry will fill the physical gap left by the departure of Alexander Sorloth and is already a proven goal scorer. He joins the club from Swiss side FC Basel, where he scored 20 goals in 41 appearances, an impressive return and a sign that he looks set to take a step up in quality now in LALIGA.
Barry previously played for SC Beveren in Belgium, scoring 20 goals in 33 appearances, and joins Villarreal CF in a rich vein for form having scored eight goals in just four games for FC Basel this season.
