The curtain has been raised on the 25th edition of the PAMESA LaLiga Promises National Tournament. The opening ceremony in Vila-real involved the Under-12 sides of all 20 LaLiga Santander clubs, plus Villarreal CF president Fernando Roig, LaLiga ambassador Gaizka Mendieta and the team of tournament officials headed by Cesar Luis Barrenechea Montero.
The finest young talent in Spain is assembled and ready to wow us once again at LaLiga Promises, which is organised by LaLiga and the Jose Ramon de la Morena Foundation. These future LaLiga stars will be showcasing their skills from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 June, when the champions of this prestigious event will be crowned.
During the opening ceremony, which was held at the Pamesa Ceramica Training Ground, Gaizka Mendieta addressed the participants and highlighted the importance of sportsmanship: "As a dad and a former footballer, I urge you to remember that you start winning when you show respect," he noted, before adding that: "There can be no essence without values, there can be no authenticity without this essence, there can be no growth without this authenticity and without this growth, there can be no football."
For his part, Fernando Roig extended a warm welcome to all the players, the family members who have accompanied them and all the fans who will be in attendance. "We're proud to welcome you to our home for the fourth year in a row. What's most important is for you to enjoy the tournament with your teammates and with your families, who make sacrifices for you every day," the president of host club Villarreal told the budding footballers. Those not attending the competition will be able to watch the action on LaLiga's official channels (YouTube and LaLiga TV), as well as on LaSexta, MEGA and GOL.
