Great success of LaLiga and du Football Champions' project

Since the registration period for the championships organized by LaLiga and du Football Champions was opened, more than 8,000 applications to participate in the tournaments of UAE Schools Cup and UAE Streets Cups have been received. This joint event is the first youth championship that offers to young talents of UAE the opportunity to develop their potential and start their career as a footballers at national and international level.

Fernando Sanz, director of LaLiga's office for Middle East and Africa and Ambassador of Liga BBVA, expressed the satisfaction of LaLiga by the response. "The welcome we received reinforces, more so, LaLiga's commitment to such initiatives for developing young talent worldwide. The alliance with du Football Champions, with the creation of two tournaments, UAE Schools Cup and UAE Streets Cup, help young people to grow both football as personally", stressed Sanz.

The project has generated a record number of applications from young players. For this reason, the registration period has been extended until 31 October, as it is expected that up to 11,000 children can participate. Young people from across the country, make up 500 teams in the UAE Schools Cup and 500 teams in the UAE Streets Cup. Points of information and collection of applications are spread throughout the country, with presence in the beaches and major economic and social centers.

The championship will start next October 17 and is organized by du Football Champions, whose director is Michel Salgado, Liga BBVA Ambassador, who will oversee this project. "The demand for participation in the project is incredible. I know firsthand the great talent that there are in this country and now, with this platform, we can help make that talent shine and that can develop into a professional career. I cannot be happier helping to transform the lives of these young people and their communities".

Hundreds of schools and thousands of young people will compete for the tournament prizes, including an educational and training trip to Spain with all expenses paid, where they will have the opportunity to compete with the best Spanish clubs in its category.
