The director of the Integrity Department spoke in the Interministerial Parliamentary Committee to present the roles, objectives and operations of the Department, a world leader in this field. He also explained the legislative reforms instigated by the LFP and implemented by the Spanish Ministry of Justice to tighten the Penal Code and the creation of new provisions in the Disciplinary Code of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
All of this falls within the framework of a future legislative reform for the prosecution of match fixing in sport. The Chair of the Committee, Ainers Latkovskis, moderated the meeting, which was also attended by the General Manager of the Latvian Football League, Emil Latkovskis; the Commissioner General for Financial Crime of the Latvian National Police, Gatis Gudermanis; and Evika Silina, of the Ministry of the Interior.
The LFP and the Latvian Football League have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on integrity and information sharing.
