The Slovenian shot-stopper erected an almost impenetrable wall between the posts when keeping goal for Atletico Madrid last season. Jan Oblak's seventh campaign as a member of the capital club ended successfully on a collective and personal level. In addition to lifting the trophy as a member of the LaLiga Santander championship-winning side, he also conceded the fewest goals in the division for the fifth time since joining in 2014/15.

Atletico Madrid's last man has been a key player in 'Cholo' Simeone's side and the first name on the team sheet. His omnipresence has been felt throughout the season. Not only did he start every single match, he did not miss a single minute from start to finish; 38 matches in which he kept 18 clean sheets. He was also key to ensuring Los Colchoneros finished last season as the tightest team at the back, conceding on just 25 occasions.

The extremely high level of the players making up the rear guard, the system deployed by the Argentine coach and the superb tactical approach to matches, combined with the abilities of Oblak, made the team who play at the Wanda Metropolitano almost impossible to breach. The Slovenian is agile, has good reflexes and is also adept with the ball at his feet. Plus, he makes good use of his physical abilities to venture out where others dare to tread and cover as much space in front of goal as possible.

Over the course of the season he has given us the opportunity to marvel at some sublime saves which have contributed to his team's points haul, such as the penalty save against Deportivo Alaves to deny them an equaliser on Matchday 28. He also produced some magnificent displays against Barcelona, such as when he got his hand to the ball to prevent Messi from securing the three points for the Catalan club on Matchday 35, or in the derby against their eternal rivals on Matchday 26, when the game ended a goal apiece at the final whistle.

We are witnessing a player who is not afraid to come out and punch or fling himself with abandon to prevent the ball finding the back of the net, and one whose stats and performances substantiate his candidacy for consideration as one of the top keepers on the planet. He is a master shot-stopper, an impenetrable wall, a locked door, the perfect gatekeeper; a player who came to LaLiga Santander to achieve his objectives with the team, reach the very pinnacle of his game and be lauded as one the legends of Atletico Madrid and the competition.

Press play and relive some of the best moments of the 2020/21 season!
