Xabi Prieto's story is one of club loyalty. The player from San Sebastian debuted for Real Sociedad in the 2003/04 campaign and remained with the Txuri-urdin until his retirement at the end of the 2017/18 season.
The Basque club were relegated in 2006/07, but Xabi Prieto stayed with the team to help them fight their way back into the top flight as soon as possible. They achieved the much-awaited promotion and the LaLiga 1|2|3 title in 2010, with the midfielder leading the charge (35 games and seven goals).
After returning to LaLiga Santander, Prieto continued to act as the mainstay of La Real's midfield for another eight seasons, before retiring with a tribute worthy of his legendary status.
